What to Expect at the 2025 Festival

The 2025 Black Culture Festival will feature over 200 performers, artists, and speakers across multiple stages and venues. Attendees can expect:

Musical Performances

From gospel to hip-hop, jazz to Afrobeats, the festival’s musical lineup represents the full spectrum of Black musical excellence. Headliners include both legendary artists and breakthrough talents, with performances scheduled throughout all three days.

Artisan Market

Over 300 vendors will showcase Black-owned businesses, from fashion and beauty products to handmade crafts and art. The marketplace has become a premier destination for discovering and supporting Black entrepreneurs.

Culinary Experience

The Taste of the Diaspora food court will feature chefs representing culinary traditions from across Africa, the Caribbean, the American South, and beyond. Cooking demonstrations and food history workshops will explore the profound influence of Black culinary traditions.

Educational Pavilion

This year’s expanded educational area will feature workshops on financial literacy, historical talks, genealogy resources, and innovation showcases highlighting Black contributions to technology and science.

Historical Significance of October

October holds special significance in the Black cultural calendar. Not only does it mark the beginning of Black History Season in the UK, but it’s also a month that contains several important dates in the global Black experience:

  • The birth of iconic leaders like Desmond Tutu (Oct 7) and Jesse Jackson (Oct 8)
  • Black History Month in the UK (throughout October)
  • The International Day for the Remembrance of the Slave Trade and its Abolition (August 23) recently passed, setting the tone for reflection and celebration
